Rodney's Setlist Collection
Various dates
Various venues
Rodney Bowcock was gracious enough to let us borrow his setlist collection and display them here.  The featured list is written on an Aldi's grocery bag.  The narrow one is on a Taft Art Museum bookmark.  There are a couple rarer songs included on a couple of these, and at least one evolving song title.  Click the links and browse around.  We'll add dates to them when we figure it all out.

Setlist

April 19, 2002
20th Century Theatre, Cincinnati, Ohio

As with all Ass Ponys set lists, this may not necessarily be the order in which the tunes were performed, and the songs on the list may not necessarily be the tunes that were performed.  But most of them were.

Stagenote

May 26, 2001
Mad Frog, Cincinnati, Ohio

WAIF wanted Ass Ponys to announce from stage that the Mad Frog show was being broadcast live, hence this note.  After some "colorful language" during the show, the broadcast ended prematurely.

Lohio tracklist

April, 2001

In April of 2001, I attended a couple AP shows in Cincinnati.  Later that same weekend, some of us were invited to Chuck's house in Bethel, where we were honored to listen to most of the then-unreleased album Lohio, backed with Chuck's running commentary.  Chuck gave me a CDR copy of the album along with this handwritten track list.

Setlist

NYC, September, 1996
Special thanks to AP fan Joli who grabbed this after the NYC show.
I think the one on the right is Dave's. Most later Ass Ponys set lists are printed rather than handwritten.

Setlist on a CEA Card

Late 2001/early 2002 (how's that for precise?)
Barrelhouse Brewing Company, Cincinnati, Lohio (I think)

Yeah, got it and promptly forgot where and when.  Chuck's handwritten set list on the back of a 2001 CEA card.  The small handwriting on the right hand side is from Karen W... additions to the list, or rather, a wish list.  "4 - 4" is secret Ponyhead code for which we'll need our Ass Ponys decoder rings.  Line it up just past Ovaltine and it reveals "Ford Madox Ford."

Setlist

Date unknown, circa 2001.
Venue unknown.

I could have sworn I had a show around here that opened with "Bob," but darn if I can find it.  This is typical of most printer-generated Ass Ponys set lists.

The Known Universe Alternate Cover
1996
This was almost the cover for The Known Universe.  Designed by Chuck Cleaver.  A&M's art department opted to go with what we now recognize as TKU.

"I Love Bob" Button
circa 1994
Chuck Cleaver used to wear this on his guitar strap.  It's seen better days, but it still speaks clearly of the "misfortunes of the past."  The button is visible in both the "Earth to Grandma" and "Little Bastard" videos.  The video frame at left is from the beginning of "ETG."

Crucifix Guitar

Cleaver's crucifix-adorned acoustic.  He claimed it was a bitch to play because the "accessory" stuck out far enough to catch his right wrist while he played.  Jesus could not be reached for comment.  This guitar has been retired (?) as Chuck is playing an electric six as of late (c. 2004).
